Editorial Policy
The rules we follow to keep affiliate revenue from biasing what we recommend.
Last updated: 2026-05-03
Independence
ProvedHome is editorially independent from every retailer, manufacturer, and affiliate program we participate in. No advertiser, retailer, or brand has any involvement in the selection, research, scoring, or wording of our reviews.
Affiliate revenue does not influence rankings
We earn affiliate commissions when readers buy products through our links. The commission rate varies between programs and individual products. Commission rate is not a factor in our rankings. If two products are similarly good but one pays a higher commission, we recommend the better product. If a budget alternative is the right answer for most buyers, we recommend the budget alternative even when it pays a smaller commission.
What we will not accept
- Free product samples in exchange for coverage. We buy or independently research the products we cover.
- Sponsored reviews or "advertorials" disguised as editorial content.
- Paid placements or rankings. No brand can pay to be on a "best of" list.
- Pre-publication review. We do not let manufacturers see, edit, or veto coverage before it goes live.
- Gifts of material value from brands or PR agencies.
Sourcing standards
Specific factual claims in our reviews are based on verifiable sources: aggregated owner reviews, manufacturer specifications, public test data, regulatory filings, and warranty documents. When we cite an outside source we link to it. We avoid:
- Sponsored or PR-supplied "research" presented as independent.
- Anonymous, single-source claims about reliability or performance.
- Statistics quoted without a source or context.
Accuracy and corrections
We aim for factual accuracy in every review. When we get something wrong, we follow our Corrections Policy: we update the review, note what changed, and keep a public log on the corrections page.
Updates and freshness
Products change. Prices, model numbers, retailer availability, and firmware features all drift over time. Our practice is:
- The original publish date is preserved on every review.
- When we make material updates we add an "updated on" date.
- When a product is discontinued or replaced by a successor, we note that at the top of the review.
AI assistance disclosure
We use software tools — including AI-assisted research and drafting tools — to help process large volumes of owner feedback and to draft preliminary outlines. Every published review is reviewed, edited, and signed off on by a named human author before it goes live. AI is a research and drafting aid, not an autopilot. We do not publish unedited machine output.
Authorship
Every review is attributed to a named author with a public bio. We do not publish under pseudonyms or anonymous "Editorial Team" labels. Author profiles are at Team, with a per-author profile page that includes credentials and contact details.
Reader trust beats short-term revenue
The reason we do all of this is simple. The single most valuable thing this site has is reader trust. We will lose more revenue from one reader catching us in a biased recommendation than we will ever earn from one over-priced affiliate click. The rules above are designed around that trade-off.
Questions or concerns
If you spot something that looks like an editorial integrity problem — an undisclosed conflict of interest, a suspicious-looking ranking, or a factual error we should fix — please email [email protected]. We take these seriously.
